TWO YACHT RACE FINISH LINE BUOYS HAVE BEEN POSITIONED ON A BEARING OF 096 DEGREES TRUE FROM ST. DAVID’S LIGHTHOUSE. THE INNER BUOY AT A DISTANCE OF 0.8NM IS COLOURED GREEN WITH A FLASHING GREEN LIGHT AND THE OUTER BUOY AT A DISTANCE OF 1.2NM IS COLOURED BLACK WITH A FLASHING WHITE LIGHT.

DUE TO THE DANGER OF STRANDING ON THE REEFS FRINGING BERMUDA AND FOR ENVIRONMENTAL PROTECTION, THE INTERNATIONAL MARITIME ORGANISATION (I.M.O) HAS ESTABLISHED AN AREA TO BE AVOIDED AROUND THE BERMUDA ISLANDS. THE AREA TO BE AVOIDED APPLIES TO ALL VESSELS CARRYING OIL OR HAZARDOUS MATERIALS, AND ALL OTHER VESSELS EXCEEDING 1000GRT WHETHER OR NOT BOUND FOR BERMUDA PORTS. VESSELS NOT CALLING AT BERMUDA ARE ADVISED TO KEEP A MINIMUM OF 30 MILES DISTANT. VESSELS INTENDING TO ENTER BERMUDA TERITORIAL WATERS ARE REQUIRED TO OBSERVE THE IMO AREA TO BE AVOIDED AND REQUEST PERMISSION TO ENTER FROM BERMUDA RADIO ON MARINE VHF CH16, 48 HOUR PRIOR SHIPS REPORTING IS REQUIRED TO ADVISE ISPS DOCUMENTATION, DANGEROUS GOODS DECLARATION AND WASTE NOTICE REQUIREMENTS, VESSELS CAN OBTAIN FURTHER INFORMATION FROM WWW.MAROPS.BM/SEAPORT_SECURITY SUBSEQUENTLY PRIOR TO DEPARTURE FROM BERMUDA PORTS, VESSELS ARE REQUIRED TO SUBMIT A DANGEROUS GOODS DECLARATION.

MARINERS SHOULD KEEP VESSEL WAKE TO A MINIMUM, ENSURING THE SAFETY OF OTHER BOAT USERS AND SWIMMERS IN THESE AREAS.

THE BUOY IS APPROX 2M IN HEIGHT, AND MARKS THE ‘’BLUE STRIPE GRUNT NO FISHING AREA’’ RUNNING FROM ST. CATHERINES POINT, TO CHANNEL MARKER #12, TO #16, SW TO THE YELLOW FISHERIES BUOY, SE TO FORT GEORGE. MARINERS IN THE AREA ARE ADVISED TO KSLO AND PROCEED WITH CAUTION.
